How is this different from a basic inventory dashboard?

It ranks products by how soon they need an order, shows the arithmetic, and takes you to a draft purchase order. It does not only report stock levels.

Does it connect to purchasing?

Yes. A product in the plan can go straight into a draft purchase order, with its reason attached.

What does it need from me?

A stock count and sales history for each product, and a lead time (entered, or learned from your received orders). A product missing one is shown as incomplete, with a link to add it.
